The TKO Premier Soccer Club of Kalamazoo participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Soccer Kicks for Cancer program in an effort to support the Society’s mission to cure blood cancers, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Soccer Kicks for Cancer is a youth soccer fundraising program offered by the Society in partnership with Michigan State Youth Soccer Association. Over the last 3 years the program has raised more than $100,000 for blood cancer research and patient services.

TKO players collected pledges and donations for their “2000 Touches” on the ball between September 5 and September 19, 2006.

On Tuesday September 19, the Club came together to perform their final 200 touches.

The club players and parents were joined by The Lyttle Family of Battle Creek; Rachel, with her mom and dad, Patty and Russ. Rachel is 3 years old and is a recipient of services from the LLS and is one of the Society’s Local Honored Heros.

The Club raised just over $6,100 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The U13 boys’ team did a tremendous job of raising $1445. Other teams to raise over the $500 mark and earn a Hungry Howie’s Pizza Party were the U16Girls ($993), U14Girls ($676), U13Girls ($620), U18Girls ($560) and the U11Boys Blue ($506)

The individuals who collected at least $200, in donations, and will be receiving a Kicks for Cancer Hoodie were: Toni Guillot $325 (U18G), Danielle Melgar $310 (U13G), Zach Richards $225 (U12B), Anna Hoard $220 (U14G), Spencer Birch $200 (U13B), Matt Carl $200 (U11BB), Ryan Howser $200 (U13B), Lindsay MacMillan $200 (U14G) and Jeremy Shane $200 (U13B).
