TKO Player Showcase - Positive Player Recognition

Good Work Danielle Melgar, U18 Girls

Check Out My Story

Dani is a hard-working outside back for our U18 team.  She made a huge impact for our team this fall season.  She was a very consistent performer with a great understanding of the game.  Her defending technique is outstanding, and she made the biggest, much-needed impact for us getting forward in the attack - she scored a couple of very important goals!  Dani's strongest quality is her work ethic.  On and off the field, she works incredibly hard to improve her individual skills, but  she is also focused on getting results for her team.  Much like with her work off the field, Dani has the ablity to inspire people on the soccer field to work a little harder and "play for each other."  She was one our fittest players, and on a team full of outstanding young ladies, she fit in very well because she is friendly, unselfish, and passionate.  I am honored to have coached Danielle as she is definitely one of TKO's "shining stars."   Todd Wells, U18 TKO Girls Coach

TKO Premier U14 Girls in State Cup Quarter Finals

Mon, Oct 3rd, 2011

The TKO Premier Soccer Club 14 Girls recently fell to the Michigan Jaguars Green 2-1 in the 2011 Michigan State Cup Tournament Quarter Finals,  Saturday, October 1, 2011.

TKO took advantage of the blustery wind the first half, taking the lead 1-0 mid way through with a 25-yard-shot from Grace Labadie.  The ball sailed right over the head of the Jaguar goalkeeper for the score.   With a couple other great opportunities that escaped TKO, the half ended TKO 1 Jaguars 0.

In the second half, the weather conditions continued to affect the game.  The Jaguars were pressing mid way through the second half and finally broke down the TKO defense with an equalizing goal with 12 minutes to go in the game.  With the momentum, the Jaguars were able to sneak another goal in for the go ahead.   TKO Coach, Neil Ridgway said, "The wind helped Novi keep the ball in our end a little more than we wanted the second half."  Ridgway also said, "I am very proud of our girls and what they have accomplished."

ODP Announcement

Mon, Aug 8th, 2011

Attention TKO families:

The 2011 Olympic Development Program tryouts finished August 7th in Hamburg, MI.  The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national program to identify and develop youth players to represent their State, Region, and country in soccer competitions. ODP teams are formed with each of the 55 US ODP LogoYouth Soccer State Associations and four regions, made up of the best players in the various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.

There were 1400 players total in the all of the age group tryouts.  TKO Premier SC was well represented at the tryouts and placed 11 players in the state pools.  In the 2000 age group the following players were selected to the state pool from 120 players: Bre Bentz, Paige Hadley, Reagan Wisser, Haley Poloski and Alana Richmond. At the 1998 age group the following players were selected to the state pool from 100 players: Stephanie Scafaria, Sophia Lentz, Riley Wisser, Tia Lamie, Grace Labadie, and Maria Egloff who made the 1999 girls state pool.  Ryan Melgar made the 1998 state pool on the boys side.

These players will be training over the winter months in aspirations of making the state team which will travel to the Region II camp in July. Last year TKO Premier SC had two players attend the Region II camp in the 1998 age group, Riley Wisser and Grace Labadie.  Other TKO players to participate in ODP this past season were Braden Gardner and Alex Osterhout who made the 1998 boys Region II camp, and Nic King who made the 1998 boys Region II camp and Region II pool.  Devin Pathoumthong was on the 1999 Boys team last year that attended the Regional Camp, and he was selected for the pool for this year’s team as well.

There is an OPD 101 program available for 2001 players who are interested in getting an introduction to the program and process.  For more information go to www.msysa.net to look at the ODP programs.

Congratulations!!

Thanks,

Rich Labadie

Technical Director
